The Providence Grays opened their season with a solid showing at the Bethpage Vintage Base Ball Tournament held at Bethpage, New York, on April 14 and 15. On Saturday, the Grays fell to the Brooklyn Atlantics 12-3 but rebounded to take the second game by a tally of 15-10. On Sunday, Providence was nicked by the New York Mutuals, 9-8 but got the bats going in the latter game and won going away by a score of 24-8. In the team's 15th campaign, Providence is returning to the form that once made them one of the top barehanded teams in the country and they continue to represent Rhode Island, not to mention Narragansett Beer, in vintage style.
