We were there in 1959 for the beginning. We were there in 1965 for the Bob Dylan controversial electric performance. And we were once again at the Newport Folk Festival in 2009 for the 50th anniversary. There's no better way to spend a summer weekend than drinking a 'Gansett tall boy while listening to some great music. Fort Adams State Park was overtaken by people from all over New England and further who came to enjoy this historical musical event. The highlights of Saturday included performances from Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman, and The Decemberists. On Sunday Clammie and the 'Gansett Girls were dancing to the musical stylings of Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger. Local Rhode Island acts The Low Anthem and Deertick headlined the Waterside stage. Literally everyone who attended and wanted a beer was drinking a 'Gansett or 'Gansett Light. Even the artists ran out of 'Gansetts on Saturday and we had to replenish their supply. There's only one word that can describe this past weekend.....EPIC!
