The Derry-Salem Elks lodge, 39 Shadow Lake Road in Salem, NH, will be hosting an end-of-summer BBQ appropiately titled the Clam Jam. And none other than the official beer of the clam will be present. This isn’t an ordinary cookout with burgers and dogs. Just take a look at the flier above and notice the phenomenal snacks. Stuffed clams, fried clams, and even raw clams. Yikes! Our mouths are watering just thinking about it. Wash that all down with a delicious ’Gansett lager and this will be a great time. The ’Gansett Girls will be there for the fun, so stop in on Saturday between noon and 4

The Grog & Dog Jog...what is that you say? It’s a 4.8 mile relay race in which teams of four compete for bragging rights. There’s no baton for the hand-off. Each runner has to complete 1.2 miles then down a ’Gansett and eat a hot dog before the next runner can start. This bi-annual race has been taking place in Providence for the past three years and get’s bigger and bigger every time. It all starts at the Wild Colonial Tavern in Providence who came up with this quirky road race. This Sunday 50 teams will compete and a crowd of over 300 people are expected. If you are in the area, then this is a must see.
