This Weekend: GABF, Clambake, Oyster Fest And Brew Fests

The Great American Beer Festival is this weekend. Well it actually already begun. Even though it takes place in Denver we just had to get involved in the world renowned competition. Our good friend and brewmaster, Sean Larkin took a trip out to witness the spectacle first hand. So we sent some Fest, Lager and Light to be entered into their judging competition. Back in 2006 we won a bronze medal in the American Lager category for our Lager beer in the World Beer Cup. Both festivals are put on by the Brewers Association. Our fingers are crossed for this one so wish us luck.

2nd Annual Nick's Brew Fest

Last October, with a freak snowstorm frosting the autumn landscape of the PACC on Kendall Pond in Gardner, MA, more than 600 people enjoyed samples of some 35 Craft Brews as well as tasted the cuisine of a dozen area restaurants all in honor of native son Nick Wojtukiewicz, who passed away suddenly at age 28 from complications of Epilepsy.

While raising $10,000 for the CURE Foundation, family, friends and Craft Brew lovers from all over the area braved the bizarre elements as brewers and industry representatives did what they do best...talk beer. After testing samples in the beer garden, festival goers stepped inside to taste great food prepared by local chefs while listening to some of the finest musicians from the area. This year due to an overwhelming response-the event has been moved to the Gardner Fish & Gun Club. A classic New England day will allow the bands-BOOTHILL EXPRESS & WYLIE & THE BOOGGIEMEN among others to entertain the throngs of people.

Admission for the event will remain at $20, which includes a commemorative pint glass. All proceeds will be donated to help find a Cure for Epilepsy.

Nashua River Brewers Festival

The third annual Nashua River Brewers Festival will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Fitchburg's Riverfront Park. This event has always featured over 50 taps with the finest local craft beers. It's also unique in that it has great music at a low price!

It's only $10 in advance, or $12 at the door, which gets you a free collectible tasting glass (real glass with a cool graphic on it) and a free taste of beer. Additional beer coupons are $1 each.

This is a 21+ event. Bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the music. There's also generally been really good food - a local ribs place, a local taco/burrito vendor. See http://www.beersforgood.com for the latest information on which bands are playing - they haven't announced it yet, and tickets aren't available yet.
