the 'Mericans have released a brand new record which entirely pays homage to the local Providence music scene. They're offering this album for free and featuring tracks from some of our favorite artists such as The Rice Cakes, Deer Tick, and The Low Anthem. Appropriately titled, A Tribute To Providence, this unique compilation contains 20 songs from local bands that all called the Providence, RI music scene home between 1987 and 2013. Instead of just putting together a compilation, the 'Mericans covered each song for the recording. You can download or stream the entire record for free from their Bandcamp site (themericans.bandcamp.com/album/a-tribute-to-providence) or checkout the player above. Then for the first time, they'll be playing it live at the Providence Phoenix's 35th Anniversary Party at Lupo's on Thursday, November 21st at 7pm. That's a FREE show too. The record sounds great so make sure you check it out. This is probably one of the best compilations since WBRU did the Rock Hunt record back in the 80's. Hi Neighbor!
