Narragansett Beer was recently recognized by Tastingtable.com as one of the 14 oldest beer brands in the United States.
"In 1890, six German immigrants in Narragansett, Rhode Island, pooled their finances to start a new brewery. The Narragansett Brewing Company made nearly 30,000 barrels of beer within the first year of operation, priding itself on only using the "purest ingredients," according to its website. And well, long story short, people loved it — even local doctors prescribed it to their patients (yes, seriously)."
