When will the correct answers be revealed?
The first question should have a definite answer which I believe most people here had right.
The most famous original ’Gansett Girl is tough to determine since what qualifies as fame is quite subjective.
I had a tough time with the number of springs on the brewery site since I came across two distinctly different answers.
Guy Lister’s details about the brewery tour with John English had the following reference to ten springs: “For instance, John would tell the group that we were sitting atop 10 springs of water that were no longer used for brewing but were still used in the wash process of returnable bottles and barrels.”
However, Hazel Turley’s book about the brewery mentions nine springs on page 9: “Besides the early production of lager and porter, artificial ice was also a product in great demand. Four tons were produced daily from nine artesian wells on the site.”
