Vintage: 12 Meter Yacht Cans

America's Cup is coming to Newport this weekend. With all the excitement we almost forgot about the old can Narragansett made to promote the 12 Meter Yachts. This one is dated 1980, but we know they made a few more in the 1970s. Sailing beer cans. Now that was a pretty cool idea.

When you open the brewery I’ll give you one of each for display.

They made this can in extruded aluminum as it is here. They made it in extruded steel with a little twist on the pictures and they made it with the word Narragansett spelled “Narraganset” with one “T” on the side of the can. I think it said,“Please don’t litter, Naraganset Thanks You” I started drinking Gansett in 1974 and only remember the cans I mentioned.
