In June of 1772 brave colonists from Rhode Island burned the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee, during what has become recognized as the first bloodshed of the American Revolution. For the past 47 years the village of Pawtuxet, RI has commemorated this act with our annual Gaspee Days Celebration. Please join us as we celebrate America's 'First Blow for Freedom.' TM. Complete with a 5k road race, parade, fireworks, a Gaspee burning re-enactment and more, this weekend long celebration has become a tradition for Rhode Islanders. Some say it's the first sign that summer is here and look forward to this all year. So sit back in your lawn chair with a cooler by your side and celebrate Gaspee Days with us.
