This Weekend: St. Patrick's Day Parades
Rain or shine we’ll all be celebrating Irish heritage in good spirits this Saturday. It’s the 57th Annual Newport St. PatRick's Day parade. You better believe we have a float. The Gansett mobile will be riding in good company of Tall Boy, Clammie, and the Gansett Girls. Beginning promptly at 11:00am from Newport City Hall, the parade will proceed to Carroll Avenue at Saint Augustin’s Church in the heart of the Fifth Ward. It lasts about 2 hours and will include 7 Pipe Bands, 9 Marching Bands, 4 Fife & Drum Corps, 3 Clown Units, 8 reenactment units, and a host of local, state, and regional organizations including police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, and non-profits. Then of course there's the annual Southie St. Patrick's Day parade. 'Gansett doesn't have a float in this one, but that doesn't mean you can't have some fun there. It's on Sunday too. And of course if you're in New York City, then don't miss one of the biggest and oldest St. Patrick's Day parades in the country. The New York City St. Patrick's Day parade is this Saturday and dates back to 1762. If you're in the area, don't miss this one. Plenty of bars in NYC now carry 'Gansett too. Check out the Where To Buy here to find a bar near the route. Hi Neighbor, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
