Hallo Neighbor! As Summer winds down, it may feel like the best days of the year are behind you. However, the month of September marks one of our favorite times of the year: Oktoberfest! This over 200-year old tradition began in 1810, during a royal Bavarian wedding in Munich. It was celebrated with multiple days of drinking, feasting and horse races. They decided this was too electric to do just once, so they made it an annual event. Since then, people from around the world travel to Munich every year to take in the atmosphere and festivities that bring pure joy and entertainment.
In 1890, 6 German immigrants came together to build a brewery in Cranston with $150,000 of capital. With this, they brought us Narragansett, and along with it, the tradition of their beloved Oktoberfest. Whether it was a slightly out-of-control party on the roof, assorted parking disasters, or just plain old good times eating bratwurst and drinking Gansett Oktoberfest Beer in green velour tyrolean hats & lederhosen, the good times always rolled.
We look to replicate this energy and continue to celebrate our deep-rooted Bavarian heritage for the third year in a row at our Providence Brewery! You can join us for the biggest Rhode Island Oktoberfest celebration with four weekend sessions to choose from, September 29-October 1st. This year, we're going even bigger with an authentic German menu for general admission, and a traditional Oktoberfest feast in the VIP bier garten. Entertainment this year includes music from TubaFrau and Bavarian Bros, Stein-Hoisting Contests, Authentic and delicious German beers and a mind-blowing atmosphere!
