20.) Beer Fairy partakes in the polar plunge to ring in 2010!
Every year, the Tara Joyce Family Pub holds a polar plunge to benefit MS. It's become one of our favorite traditions to be a part of. This year Beer Fairy decided to take the plunge. There's no better way to ring in the New Year by jumping into the cold ocean. How else would you warm up afterward than throwing back a few 'Gansetts. We plan to be there again this Saturday for 2011.
19.) Barstool Sports' search for New England's Best Can!
This was probably one of the best contests ever. Narragansett and Barstool Sports teamed up earlier this year to present the search for New England’s Best Can. AKA best ass. Here's how it worked. Every day they featured a new local can. Readers voted on it and at the end of the week the can with the highest score won $100 and the owner’s face was revealed. At the end of the summer, since got 10,000 new face book friends we had a giant Best Can in New England contest finale where everybody was invited back to compete for $2,000. They held this bash at The Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy, MA and it was one hell of a night. Yes we took our cans seriously here.
18.) Gansett enters North Carolina
One week after Narragansett beer entered North Carolina we landed a draft line. Yes those are Asheville’s very own Gansett Girls pictured below. They held a promo at the Thirsty Monk to kick off our first draft bar in Asheville, NC. It was a fun filled evening of t-shirt prizes, rebus puzzle coasters and plenty of pints of New England’s famous lager. Not a bad deal if you ask us. You better believe they’ll be more to come. Our friends at Next Generation Beer will be distributing our beer throughout the Asheville, Charlotte and Greensboro areas. So be on the lookout for it when you’re there. Why Asheville, North Carolina you ask? Well it’s because they were rated Beer City USA in 2010. They must have ‘Gansett then!
17.) Release of Gansett Porter in TallBoys!
This year we decided to do something a little different. Instead of bottling our craft seasonal products, we canned them. In 16oz iconic tall boy cans that is. So Narragansett porter is once again available for the Winter season in the states of RI, MA, CT, VT, ME and central/southern FL in both 16oz cans and on draft. It's quite the hit with tons of great reviews and influencing great winter recipes like the above float, cupcakes from Sugarush, cookies and even a "ROOT" beer. Just visit your local retailer for details. If you don’t see it on the shelves in one of the available states, then simply ask. The package store employees are always happy to help. Sometimes, if they don’t have it in stock they can special order it for you. Either way it never hurts to ask. And if your headed out with some friends click here for the current list of pubs and taverns that are serving porter!
16.) The first ever Hi Neighbor Calendar featuring the 'Gansett Girls for 2011!
We've been asked for the past few years about featuring the 'Gansett Girls in our very own calendar. This year marks our very first one ever. Not only did we feature the 'Gansett Girls, but we included the history of Hi Neighbor girls which dates back to the 50's. Our first ever calendar features the lovely ‘Gansett Girls all dolled up in their pin-up goodness. Thanks to the fabulous crew at Providence Pinup for all their help with the photos and styling. Everyone needs a calendar for 2011. So why not get one while picking up some of your favorite New England beer. From now until after the Holidays, you’ll receive a Hi-Neighbor Calendar when you grab a case of ‘Gansett in the package stores. Visit your local retailer for details. But you better act fast since these are only available for a limited time and will be gone by January. To get you excited even more, here is the history of the ‘Gansett Girls and our inspiration behind the calendar’s creation.
