10.) Release of Gansett Fest!

You couldn't miss that big orange can. Gansett Fest embodied everything about New England in the Fall. The color represented the season of pumpkins and leaves falling. Gambrinus, Patron Saint Of Beer, held a giant toast on the label to ring in the harvest season. And the beer inside was just incredible. Our newest beer was also our first craft available in a 16oz can. Also on draft, this oktoberfest beer was only available for a limited time during the Fall season. It was such a big hit that we have to bring it back in Fall 2011. So be on the look out for it again. 9.) Neighbor Day!

This past September 27th we encouraged all New Englanders to celebrate Neighbor with us. What was Neighbor day you ask? Neighbor Day is a day of New England neighborliness. You probably saw some Gansett displays in many of our best stores, tastings, and give aways at a number of Gansett promotions. It’s a day to say “Hi Neighbor” to your best friend, co-worker, or that guy who lives in your apartment complex that you’ve walked past 100 times but never actually met. It’s a day to be real with yourself and have a little fun in the process. It’s a “No BS” day. It’s a “Have your beer and drink it too” day. It’s “Buy Grandpa a Sixer” day. It’s “shave off all the weekend facial hair growth except the mustache” day. It’s “make someone else’s day a little better” day. It’s “I’m going to eat a big fat burrito dripping with sour cream for lunch today and what the heck I’m going to buy one for that cute chick in HR too” day. You get the point. It's really all about being a good neighbor. So mark your Hi Neighbor Calendar now, becaus in 2011 Neighbor Day falls on September 26th.

8.) Gansett enter Vermont!

It was about time too. This year marks Gansett being sold and distributed in the Green Mountain State of Vermont. Narragansett beer is now proudly sold in all six New England states, making it truly the famous New England beer since 1890. And it’s good to be back. Mark took a trip up at the beginning of the week with the Gansett SUV. Several fans spotted it posted about Gansett in VT on our Facebook page. Well ain’t that something. In fact, Gansett is already available at a few bars in the area. Pop in to either of these places and say, “Hi Neighbor, Have a ‘Gansett!” If you’re in Burlington, then check out 156 Bistro, Mr. Mike’s and Reuben James. Both the Two Brothers Tavern in Middlebury and the Downtown Tavern in Rutland is proudly serving Gansett. Keep checking our “Where To Buy” section on our website for updated bars and package stores where Gansett will be available for you to enjoy in the Green Mountain State. And if you don’t see it, then demand Gansett in your favorite spots. You can also visit our “Support The Cause” page and let us know where Gansett should be sold. This all comes just before ski and snowboard season hits too. So we’ll see you Vermont neighbors!

7.) Red Sox Truck Day

However, the Sox players equipment wasn't the only thing headed down to City of Palms Park this past season, Narragansett Beer also made the trek to Ft. Myers. That’s right, the famous New England beer that was formerly the beer of the Sox for 32 years (1944 – 1975) was sold at the Sox spring training ballpark for the first time ever this year.

Many Americans look to the groundhog for their first glimmer of hope that spring isn’t too far away. Red Sox Nation, on the other hand, looks to the annual pilgrimage that the Red Sox equipment truck makes from Fenway Park to City of Palms Park in Ft. Myers, FL. That 1500 mile journey signifies to local baseball fans that spring training is only weeks away, and therefore baseball (and spring itself) can’t be far behind.

To mark this occasion, Gansett mascots Clammie the Clam and Tall Boy Can joined in the festivities at Fenway with Red Sox staffers and Wally the Green Monster on February 12th. The equipment truck was loaded up right around the corner from Yawkey Way, and at high noon the engines started and the 18-wheeler started rolling southbound. Following closely behind in the procession was a flat bed truck covered in red-white-and-blue bunting , and filled with joyous Fenway personnel and Wally throwing out spongy baseballs to the adoring fans…and right behind them were the Gansett-mobiles. They might not have had the best season, but we are hopeful for 2011. Don’t forget to grab a Gansett at Fenway or City of Palms Park next season. Go Sox!
