The Narragansett Beer brand, after seeing some incredible local success in Rhode Island and all around New England, went through some tough times in the 1980's and 90's and was all but left for dead.
Until a group of investors, lead by Mark Hellendrung, purchased the brand back in 2005 with the goal of bringing it back to Rhode Island and restoring the brand to it former glory.
This year, 2026, marks the 21st anniversary of the brand's revival! Meaning The Narragansett brand has matured into a full grown adult and is finally, legally, able to enjoy a pint!
With plenty of successes and failures along the way, Narragansett Beer is now proudly distributed in more areas across the country than any other time in our history. Our Taproom, a promise made by Mark to the community, just celebrated its 5th anniversary!
With the brand now officially back in Rhode island and a tidal wave of momentum behind us, we are excited to celebrate just how far the brand has come, and are even more excited about where we can go in the future!

I worked with a couple of US Customs Inspectors from Providence, R.I. up at Toronto International Airport back in the late 1970’s. They both spoke fondly of Narragansett Beer.
