The oldest agricultural fair in America. The fair has been held annually since 1818 except for six instances, 3 years during civil war, and, 1943, 1944 and 1945 during World War II. It features carnival rides and games in addition to the more traditional attractions - exhibitions of livestock, rabbits and cavies, crafts, horses and produce. The most notable event is the Giant Pumpkin competition, which Joe Jutras of North Scituate, RI has been champ of since 2007 with his 1,689 lb pumpkin (and remains so even this year as nobody was able to beat him).
