Heading east on RI route 138 just before you hit the Pell Bridge there's a sign that says, "Last exit before toll." Most toursits keep going to Newport, but the locals know down that exit is one of the hidden gems of RI. Yes it's Jamestown center. Overlooking Narragansett bay and nestled on Narragansett Ave., the center is home to some of our favorite spots. One of which is Chopmist Charlie's and their sign out front reads, "Seaworthy fare." Now that has Gansett Clam Shack written all over it. Inside the decor fits the slogan decorated with everything from oars, anchors, ropes, porthole mirrors, bouys, fake fish, you name it. This place makes you feel right at home. Order up a Gansett on draft to start the meal off right and gander at the extensive menu of some of the freshest and RI-centric seafood around. We love our stuffies, clam cakes and clear chowder here, but Charlie's menu goes beyond, offering some lobster bisque and other seafaring specialties. Anything you choose is a win and the prices are well within any budget. If your just visiting for the first time, then don't forget to pick up a Charlie Wear t-shirt on your way out. Check out some more photos below and visit Chopmistcharlies.com for more info and the full menu.
