This Weekend: Fourth Fridays And Narragansett Restaurant Week!

Start the weekend off with some art, live music and Gansett at the Newport Art Museum. On the fourth Friday of every month, the museum has been hosting live music and a cash bar for folks to come and enjoy the art. It's casual and fun for all. This Friday they also have an opening reception for three new exhibits from 5 to 7pm. Then the local band, Castle, will play from 7 to 9pm. Sounds like fun.

Castle is a Newport based band that performs "an avant garde mix of folk and high art rock music" at area venues. They combine accordions, synthesizer, guitars, drum and bass along with "melodic and poetic vocals" to create their unique sound. Castle will "go on" at 7 pm immediately following the Opening Reception.

The opening exhibits include, Journey with recent works from Rugmaker Meg Little; STOP. RUN. PLAY. with photographs by Susan Duca and Art From Within, Coleman Center Faculty Exhibition.

The town of Narragansett has been a great destination for summer tourists coming from all over the northeast. But what most folks don't realize is that the town is bustling year round. There are some of the greatest restaurants that RI has to offer all in Narragansett. Most overlook the beautiful Narragansett bay. So beginning today and running until April 3, the town came together to form Narragansett Restaurant Week. Sounds tasty. Several of the areas restaurants are participating by offering special prix fixe menus with 3-4 courses with some amazing seafood and meat dishes. Just about all of them serve Narragansett beer. Matunuck Oyster Bar, George's Of Galilee, Charlie O's, Casey's, Champlin's, Rhody Joe's, Trio, Coast Guard House, Twin Willows ...just to name a few. Not sure if a week is enough for all these places. If you're in town this week, then make a point to stop by one of these spots for dinner. You can view all restaurant and their special menus online at Narragansettri.com.
