This Weekend: Newport Art, Snowboard Raffle And Spring Training

The Newport Art Museum invites guests to have some fun at the end of the work week with Minor Swing, who will be performing 1930's to 1950's Swing and Gypsy Jazz. The group will entertain at 4th Fridays, the Museum's live music and art series, February 25th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to explore the Museum's galleries. Three new exhibitions were recently installed and are now open for viewing, "William Klenk: Collage Paintings," "Marian L. O'Connell: Artist Books and Etchings" and the "The Art of Architecture and Design." Admission is $5 for Museum members, $8 for non-members (no reservations necessary). There will be a cash bar.

Minor Swing, formed in 2003 to perform Swing and Gypsy Jazz, plays in the style of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Quintette du Hot Club de France. This unique genre is American Jazz meets Eastern European Gypsy Folk Music, which Reinhardt and Grappelli pioneered in the 1930's. Minor Swing prides itself on "bringing the Quintette du Hot Club de France to New England".

Tomorrow at Bretton Woods Ski Resort at Mount Washington in New Hampshire we are raffling off a Narragansett beer snowboard from Bean Snowboards. Gansett Girls will be there with beer specials and all sorts of other great prizes. It runs from 3 to 5pm so warm up in the lodge with a Gansett.

Hi Neighbor! Red Sox Baseball action begins this weekend with Spring Training. For any sports fan this is the most exciting time of the year. First sign of spring and we all know warmer weather is ahead. Yes baseball is America's past-time and in New England we love the Red Sox. Everyone knows that Narragansett beer was the official beer of all Red Sox ball games from 1944 to 1975. Some even remember the announcements from Curt Gowdy himself. Just like the gentleman re-enacting him in the video above. What better way to begin the baseball season than with a Narragansett lager beer. If you are in the Fort Myers and watching the game at the City Of Palms Park then look for Gansett. Our lager beer is on tap at 3 locations at the ballpark. At home or hitting a bar for the games this weekend? Then enjoy a Gansett while you do. Click here for more info on the ballpark and the Red Sox baseball schedule.
