This Weekend: Mill Street Brews And The Rock Hunt

Narragansett beer presents Nashville Pussy tonight at Mill Street Brews in Southbridge, MA.  That’s right ladies and gents! The legendary Southern rock band is coming to New England. So crack a ‘Gansett and break out the leather jacket. They just released a new record, Go To Hell, and are embarking on the Parental Guidance Tour. It’s going to be one hell of a show. Also playing tonight are Green Jelly, Phsychostick, Genre Whores, Bottle Fight and Fuel Of War. Whoa wait a minute Green Jelly? Yup, remember their hit “Three Little Pigs” from the early 90’s. It was a crazy video on MTV back when MTV actually played videos. This show is only $20 and with a double header like this it can’t be beat. Show starts at 7 so get down and rock out.

Rock Hunt Finals

The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here. After several weeks of sweat, Gansett and rock ‘n roll, the BRU Rock Hunt finals will commence tomorrow night at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence. The past four semifinal rounds were intense and showcased some of New England’s finest acts. But only four bands remain. Who will win the title? You’ll have to get to the show to see and hear for yourself. With four uniquely different but extremely talented bands, the judges will have one tough decision on their hands. With their catchy pop melodies, spiky guitars and emotional harmonies, songs by The Wandas are fun and likable. In April 2009 Keep Me Conscious released an EP “Sounds of Rescue” which showcased their flair for powerful guitar riffs and catchy pop rock vocals. While the band, You Scream I Scream claims their music will “transport you to a virtual playground for big kids” and while this may be true, their sound is far from childish. Santa Mamba is a self-proclaimed Latin Roots Rock band with an ethnic sound incorporating elements of rock, salsa, reggaton and jazz. More than a battle of the bands, this show has something for everyone. So make sure you are at Lupo’s tomorrow night. It’s only $7 and the doors open at 5pm with the first band going on at 6pm. We promise you’ll love it!
