Hi, neighbor! Here's what's going on this weekend:
SATURDAY
Join us in celebrating the anniversary of the weekend our Rhode Island ancestors blew up the British HMS Gaspee! Share your love of ’Gansett and (former) hatred of the Crown with your neighbors while watching one of the greatest runs in New England.
Make sure you stick around for the 44th annual Gaspee Days Parade that starts right after the run ends. Prizes will be awarded to the race’s top finishers and of course, there’ll be plenty of ’Gansett to go around.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
The Regatta Summer Series kicks off this weekend! Bring a cooler and come check out this season’s first races in Sakonnet. Beach, fast boats, and ’Gansett all weekend--what more could you ask for?
SUNDAY
Interested to see how quickly the fastest four-person relay team can run 1 ¼ miles, eat four hot dogs, and chug four 'Gansetts, all while wearing outrageous costumes? Then you should definitely come out for Grog & Dog Jog at the Wild Colonial Tavern in Providence. Pre-race festivities start at 4pm. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Clydesdale team who weighs a combined total of 800 lbs. Needless to say, we can’t wait.
Remember, our ancestors risked their lives so we could trade freely. The least you can do is come out, have a 'Gansett, and celebrate their heroism with us!
