Gansett's Top 10 Of 2009: 10 Through 8

As we close out 2009, we take a look back at all the great moments from the year. Everyone has their top favorites, but we thought it would be appropriate to give you the top 10 happenings at Narragansett beer. So for today, here are numbers 10 through 8.

Number 10: Clammie

This year Narragansett was recognized as the official beer of the clam. And with that came the birth of our beloved Clammie. One of his greatest achievements was running 1.2 miles in a four person 4.8 mile relay race known as the Grog & Dog. Once the mile was completed, Clammie had to eat a hot dog and down a 'Gansett before the next runner could take off. Clammie also got to skate with Scrots from the RISD hockey team, which you can click here to watch, and even attended the Newport Folk Festival where the term, "Jam Out With You Clam Out" was started. You can watch that here.

Number 9: Fishing

Nothing can be better than being out on the open water with a Narragansett beer in one hand and a rod with a really big bass on the end in the other. That's why we sponsored the On The Water Striper Cup this year. We even held a photo contest which Mel True won. Participants sent us photos of them with a fish and a Gansett and we posted the best ones like above on our site. We also sent them some sweet Gansett Gear. You can check out the recap from that wild party here.

Number 8: Gansett Girls receive over 10,000 signatures for our petition by September.

This year we brought back the old Miss Hi Neighbor favorite with the 'Gansett Girls. We also started petitioning to help build support for our new brewery which they became a huge part of. From the Providencepinup.com photo shoot to every bar promotion, they helped us further this cause. And by September we had already reached over 10,000 signatures thanks to them. Speaking of the pinup shoot which deserves to be on this list, you can click here to check that out.

Check back tomorrow to view 7 through 5. We'll be posting a few a day all week.
