Weekend Recap: NH Fisher Cats, Blessing Of The Fleet And Vice Photo Show
'Gansett's now sold at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, home to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. So last week Tall Boy was invited to throw the first pitch. Despite being a giant can with eyes and arms, he threw perfectly over home plate to get the game started. If the coach were to put him in the game, he'd strike out some batters for sure. Now let's just see if he can catch it on the return. Play ball and have a 'Gansett! The Blessing of the Fleet weekend has been an RI tradition for 42 years. With that, the Seafood Festival tent is the place to be after the road race on Friday night and then again on Saturday. Aside from all the delicious food, there was 'Gansett Lager, Light and Summer Ale on tap. Live music from Steve Smith and the Nakeds kept the party going. The 'Gansett Girls and Tall Boy joined in playing corn-hole games for prizes. Once the rain stopped on Friday it was nice and then Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. Proud to be a part of this tradition and looking forward to many more years. Scion Presents VICE 2013 Photo Show: Collaborations - From Vice.com: Do you like our new Photo Issue? Have you soaked up all its beauty and insanity with your greedy eyes like a sponge in an ocean of bliss? Do you sleep with it under your pillow? Did you introduce it to your parents as if it were a boy/girlfriend you're really excited about? Now, imagine if all your favorite photos from the issue were printed out nice and big, framed, and hung in a room. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? We have news. The dream has been realized. You can go see it right now at a place in New York City. Last night we had a soiree to kick off our annual photo show at Superchief Gallery at CultureFix in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The fun was made possible by Scion and there was free beer from the good folks at Narragansett. Check out some photos of the party below. The show will be up until July 28, so you have some time to wander over and enjoy new work by the likes of Barry McGee and Jim Goldberg; Alec Soth and Brad Zellar; Richard Kern and Kim Gordon; Jim Mangan and Tadayoshi Honda; Asger Carlsen and Roger Ballen; Sandy Kim and Maggie Lee; Jaimie Warren and her mom; Peter Sutherland and Ben Pier; and a crazy collage by Ryan McGinley, Collier Schorr, Marilyn Minter, and Roe Etheridge. The gallery's hours are listed here. [gallery link="file" order="DESC" columns="4"]
