The Grog & Dog Jog started off as a bad idea and it continues to get worse. Hatched by barman extraordinaire and fitness guru Brien Lang. The Grog is run by the Wild Colonial Running Club as a fundraiser to benefit the RI Community Food Bank. Compete in teams of four for glory and fabulous prizes from our sponsors. Each team is made up of four players, competing as a relay. Each player first runs the course of 1.25 miles and while there are some very talented runners the second phase is what we like to call “the great equalizer” where the runner must consume a hot dog and a beer before their teammate can leave for the next leg. There are provisions for vegetarians—Tofu dogs furnished by us–and for people with special dietary concerns. The beer is less negotiable. Coney Island rules apply and the Joey Chestnut maneuver is a popular favorite. “Reversals” are frowned upon. To quote the eponymous inspiration of the Josh Billings Runaground (another race we like),“To finish is to win.” REGISTRATION for 2012 IS CLOSED.
