New England Americana Festival 2012 takes root in Cambridge, MA from September 13-15, for its 3rd Annual Festival. A true community event, the Festival features 50+ local acts, over 3 nights, in 5 venues throughout Harvard Square. Thursday, Sept. 13 & Friday, Sept. 14 Live music begins with two stages at the revered Club Oberon. Doors open at 6pm and music starts at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here or at Club Oberon’s box office. 3-Day passes are available for $35. Saturday Afternoon, Sept. 15 The festival will continue during the day on Saturday, from 2pm to 7pm with a free outdoor stage in Winthrop Park. Saturday Night, Sept. 15 Saturday night, at 7pm festivities move into 3 of Harvard Square’s historic venues: the legendary Club Passim, Tommy Doyle’s (formerly the House of Blues), and Charlie’s Kitchen. Wristbands to enter all venues on Saturday are $15 and can be purchased here or from 2pm to 7pm in Winthrop Park or at the door of any of the three participating venues. The New England Americana Association is a community based organization, seeking to serve as a catalyst for the cohesion, promotion, growth, and recognition of the local roots music scene of New England. NEA organizes music festivals, hosts shows, produces recordings, and provides multiple services to the music community of musicians and music consumers. The New England Americana Association exists in order to bringing greater coherence to and bring local and national attention to the roots music scene of New England. It’s mission is to create lasting collaborations between local artists and individuals in the industry in an effort to catalyze further creative endeavors, both within and beyond the New England Americana umbrella. This mission includes, but is not limited to, festival production/promotion, concert production/promotion, recording production, creation of online marketing and musician resources, and band agency/brokerage firm. The New England Americana is established upon the values of fostering a strong, local, artistic community that works together; bringing national attention to a vast pool of roots music talent; encouraging the mentoring interaction between established entities and prospective entities; holding a responsibility in maintaining the lifeline of a musical tradition; and, creating community benefits which continue to surpass the direct oversight of New England Americana itself.
