Weekend Recap: Ice Fishing In Maine
The trip was great. It was a little cold, -12 on Saturday night and a high of 6 on Sunday. We had 9 adults, 3 kids along. 2 of the adults were first timers and couldn't believe we drove all that way for winter recreation. Stayed again at Greenland Cove cabins in Danforth, ME on East Grande Lake. Ice was only 8-10 inches compared to 20 in other years. We caught Lake trout, Cusk, Whiting, and land-locked Salmon. Had a big fish fry on Sunday night introducing some of our friends in Maine to the RI tradition of malt vinegar. Also broke out the golf clubs for a closest to the pin(tip-up trap) contest. Narragansett beer was enjoy by the adults around the fire over some good conversation and lots of bonding. Ice fishing is more about the experience and less about the fish you catch. It’s really the journey you take and stories you share that make it worth while. Here are some of our photos below thanks to Jeff Adams and Stew. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
