Weekend Recap: Drug Rug, Breweriana And Ocean Deck

We hit the Middle East Upstairs on Friday night for the Drug Rug show and managed to get an interview before the show. They talked with Tom Keilty about everything from Narragansett beer to their music. After the interview, we grabbed a cold tall boy and saw them steal the show. The Upstairs of the Middle East Club is one of the best venues to see a band like Drug Rug. Since the capacity is a little over 200, it fills quick. And once it's packed the atmosphere is very intimate. Not to mention the sound is crystal clear and you can every lyric sung. So watching Drug Rug there was the perfect way to start off a long weekend in Cambridge, MA.

Breweriana show 11610

The 'Gansett Girls love collecting old Narragansett beer cans. So they hit-up the American Legion in Seekonk, MA on Saturday to scope out all the cool beer memoribilia. A local collecting club was hosting a breweriana show with tons of Narragansett stuff. There was even one 'Gansett can worth $19,000. A little out of their price range for an empty 'Gansett, but still awesome. Antique cans were the most abundant, but others had trays, signs, posters, glasses, clocks and more. Towards the end of the show the girls raffled off some new Narragansett beer shwag that the patrons could add to their collection. Conincidentally this week marks the 75th anniversary of canned beer. So tune in later this week for a history blog about that.

Ocean Deck_3 11510

The Ocean Deck in Marshfield, MA was having a grand opening celebration on Friday night. With $1.50 Narragansett lager drafts, the 'Gansett Girls were in attendance and had the best time. The bar was of course packed and there was some great live music going on. There's was also plenty of delicious food including the girls' favorite, fried clams. Yum! They raffled off some cool 'Gansett Gear and had everyone drinking their part to sign our petition. We'll have to hit this place again once the warmer weather begins.
