Good Friends Unite At The Allman Brothers Concert

"Narragansett in tow!"

Reunions are about keeping friends together, while embracing old traditions despite moving forward. That's exactly what happened this past weekend in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. A group of college friends reassembled to relive what brought us all together. Good music and good beer served as the glue that connected us to the past, but yet flexible enough to embrace new memories. The music of the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic served as the impetus to bring us out of the comforts of our homes and into Tropical Storm Danny's wrath. However, sustaining the drenching liquids and varying wind patterns was only tolerable with each sequential sip of New England's finest beer. The title that is reserved of course, for the esteemed Narragansett.

Maybe it was because of the memories this beverage conjured up, or perhaps just the thought that each sip would bring shelter from the storm. This beer was right in the wheelhouse on this particular stormy day. I for one am not an individual that needs reassuring that a Gansett is the most refreshing offering. However, there were a number of individuals who were wielding other domestics of a lesser caliber. Us being the anticipatory gentlemen that we are, decided to pack a few extras in the cooler to pass the torch and help reclaim Gannsett as New England’s premier and only offering. It didn't take much to have a crowd of curious beer connoisseurs rating the merit of our cooler's contents. After a round or two it was clear that the underdog, Narragansett, would walk away with the undisputed title of best beer of the tailgate (and New England).

It was great to be in the company of old friends and witness that something’s never change, especially our beer of choice. More importantly, was the ability, as a group, to pass the torch to others and hope that at one of their reunions they will remember that first sip of a Narragansett. To the brewmaster and the team with a vision, keep brewing the stuff and we will keep jamming out with our clams out.
