A Weekend Of Art And Rock Shows

beatniks

Boston’s own ska legends, Guns Of Navarone, will be tootin’ their horns in Worcester tonight at Beatnik’s, 433 Park Ave.

Guns of Navarone formed in 2007 and have since been playing traditional Jamaican ska from the 1960’s, rocksteady, and reggae music. They play songs from; Desmond Dekker, Max Romeo, Toots & the Maytals, the Skatalites, the Specials, and many more. According to their MySpace page, their nine peice band is a high energy ensemble of talented musicians based largely out of Boston yet have members from Worcester to Rhode Island as well. This should be a fun show with people dancing, singing, all while having a ‘Gansett.

hive

Narragansett beer proudly supports local arts and music. For the past two seasons, ‘Gansett has been served at the Hive Art Gallery & Tattoo Studios’ openings. Tonight is a Halloween themed collaborative show appropriately titled, “I remember Halloween.” Over 20 talented artists will have their work on display and for sale. There will be a costume contest with prizes for best costume and a DJ spinning some killer tunes. Plus refreshments from The Blackstone and of course ice cold Narragansett beer. You don’t want to miss this one! The Hive is conveniently located inside the Hope Artiste Village, 1005 Main Street in Pawtucket.

deertick

Providence based Deer Tick is on the road in support of their Partisan Records release, Born On Flag Day. As part of the Partisan Records Tour, they will be appearing tonight at Lupo’s in Providence and tomorrow at Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA. Other Partisan acts on the bill includes Holy Sons, Dolorean, Paleo, and Chris Denney & the Natives. Both venues serve ‘Gansett tall boys and we’ll be at Harpers Ferry tomorrow night for finale of this tour. The above photo was taken by Kendall Pavan.

dodge-street

Dodge Street Bar & Grill has hosted some of the wildest nights that downtown Salem, MA has ever seen. Tis’ the season for ghouls and goblins to be roaming the streets of Witch City. So why not host a Halloween costume party a week early. That’s exactly the mayhem that will take place there this Saturday night. The ‘Gansett Girls will be there and we’re keeping their costumes a secret. You’ll have to come by for a ‘Gansett to find out. Clammie might even make an appearance to witness this. Entertainment of the evening will be music provided by Keep Me Conscious, Roman Traffic, and High Tolerance (NY).

EYEHATEGOD

Narragansett beer presents EYEHATEGOD at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA this Sunday. You don’t want to miss this rare performance from a metal legend. ‘Gansetts on tap downstairs at the Middle East club and we’ll be there hooking the bands up with beer and some of their fans as well. We’ll also be inteviewing EYEHATEGOD this night, so be sure to check back for that. Providence’s own Howl has a supporting slot on the bill. They just signed with Relapse Records and you know we’ll be hearing more from them. This promises to be the most righteous night of metal!
